My Story...

I have blogged a few times and realized that I never told my story on how I ended up with my Mom and Dad. I was born on September 27, 2008. At that time I had no idea where my "home" would be. Carlos Rojas, owner of Jagermeister Shepherds, is part owner of my dog mom and had her sent to Germany to get bred. She came back and had her puppies. All were sold except for me. The other owner of my dog mom, T Floyd, was going to keep me for himself. I like to think that I was the best pick. At the same time this was happening, my Mom and Dad had another German Shepherd named Otto. He was a black and tan 3 year old. They dropped him off at the end of November to go to training with Carlos Rojas at Jagermeister Shepherds for 3 week board and train program. They were scheduled to pick him up on December 16, 2008, two days after they got back from their honeymoon. Before they had a chance to pick him up, they received a call while in Jamaica that Otto had to be put to sleep because he developed bloat in his stomach. They were devastated. Later they told me that finding out about Otto ruined their honeymoon. I felt really bad about that. Back to the story, Carlos Rojas felt so bad about losing Otto (even though it was not his fault), that he offered one of his own puppies to them. This puppy was already being picked up by another family but he was going to tell them that the puppy wasn't for sale anymore. He ended up giving that puppy away and offered my Mom and Dad another puppy from a partner of his, that dog ended up being ME. They picked me up on December 23, 2008. I was the C Litter from T Floyd so they had to name with a "C". Because of everything that Carlos did for my parents and trying to save Otto, they decided that Carlo was the most suitable name. Mom and Dad always say that everything happens for a reason. I hope that I can be a great dog to make up for that loss that they felt when they lost Otto. I never met Otto, but I am sure I would have liked him. It is kind of funny because people always refer to me as Otto by accident.

  1. That is a sad story Carlo! Your mom and dad must have been heartbroken about Otto. I'm sure that you are a great dog and help cheer them up when they are sad. Just remember that Otto is healthy and happy and watching over you all from Rainbow Bridge.
